The Round the Island Race is one of the largest and most exciting races in the world, attracting around 1,200 entries from the UK and overseas.

Both amateurs and professionals take part in this race, giving members of the public the chance to race against Olympians, world champions and America’s Cup sailors.

Take your friends, family or clients on the most amazing experience with a Round the Island Race yacht charter.

Your team will join us on the Thursday evening or Friday morning, ready for a comprehensive training day on Friday, finishing in Cowes Yacht Haven to soak up the pre-race atmosphere and be perfectly positioned for an early start on Saturday. 

Saturday is race day, ready for an exciting 60 mile circumnavigation of the Isle of Wight. This usually takes around 8 hours and our Prometheus 41.0 yachts have proven to even outpace many higher rated IRC yachts. Our Beneteau First 40 charter yacht will race in an IRC class. 

Enjoy an après sail celebration in Cowes amongst thousands of other competitors, with live music and lively bars and restaurants before enjoying a leisurely cruise back to Port Solent on Sunday.

Prometheus 41 Bareboat or Skippered Package

Prometheus Sailing and Sunsail have their own class start within the Round the Island Race and offer an exclusive package to compete in this legendary race.

Our Prometheus 41 bareboat package includes:

• Charter of a modern Prometheus 41 yacht from 1900, Thursday 5 June until 1700, Sunday 8th June 2025
• Fully coded and equipped to sail with up to 10 guests
• 3 cabins and additional berths in the main saloon
• Berths in Cowes Yacht Haven on Friday and Saturday night.
• Race entry fees into the Prometheus Sailing class.
• Shore based support from the Prometheus Sailing team
• Engine hours, safety equipment and wet weather gear

Beneteau First 40 Skippered Package

Prometheus Sailing and Sunsail UK can also offer one of our Beneteau First 40 yachts for skippered charter for the Round the Island Race. 

Our Beneteau First 40 package includes:

• Charter of a Beneteau First 40 yacht from 1900, Thursday 5 June until 1700, Sunday 8th June 2025
• Fully coded and equipped to sail with up to 12 guests (10 guests + 2 professional crew)
• 3 cabins and additional berths in the main saloon
• Berths in Cowes Yacht Haven on Friday and Saturday night.
• Race entry fees into an IRC class.
• Shore based support from the Prometheus Sailing team
• Engine hours, safety equipment and wet weather gear

Rock Up and Race Individual Race Package

If you don't have a full crew for the charter of an entire yacht, you can still enjoy the thrill of the Round the Island Race onboard one of our Prometheus 41 yachts. 

Our 'Rock Up and Race' package for the Round the Island Race is just £725 including VAT per person. The package includes:

• A place on a modern Prometheus 41 yacht from 0900hrs, Friday 6th June until 1600, Sunday 8th June 2025.
• Professional skipper and 1st mate.
• Fully coded and equipped to sail with up to 10 guests (8 guests and professional crew). 
• 3 cabins and additional berths in the main saloon. Limited accommodation is available onboard the yacht in shared cabins at an additional cost of £50 per person, with up to 4 places available. 
• Berths in Cowes Yacht Haven on Friday and Saturday night.
• Race entry fees into the Prometheus Sailing class. 
• Shore based support from the Prometheus Sailing team.
• Engine hours, safety equipment and wet weather gear.
• Snack and soft drinks onboard.
