Sea Trials Performance Day

16 April 2026

Prometheus Sailing is delighted to be working with renowned sports psychologist Tim Harkness this April, with just two days remaining in our Sea Trials schedule on 16th and 17th April 2026.

Tim is a psychologist who helps business leaders rebuild human connection and performance in an era where people are digital disconnected and are constantly tempted to outsource thinking to AI.

He has over 25 years of international experience in elite sport, business and high-stakes environments.

At Chelsea FC he served as Head of Sports Science and Psychology, contributing to 14 major trophies over 14 years and creating performance decision-making systems like BlueSprint and BluePoint.

From 2023 to 2025 he led strategic performance in the Saudi Pro League, building league-wide data systems and advising club technical departments.

Earlier, he supported elite teams in India and Saudi Arabia, advised hedge funds and high-performance individuals in London's financial sector, and authored the book 10 Rules for Talking.

Tim has deep experience of the sea, he is a former scuba instructor, current RYA Yachtmaster candidate, surfer, and long-distance ocean swimmer.

Through Sea Trials, Tim delivers structured sailing simulations, assigning specific roles such as Helm, Pilot, Lookout, and Bosun, to build performance frameworks and face-to-face cohesion that are directly applicable in the workplace.

Sea Trials - How It Works

  • Brief for the sail online, or in person on the day. Choose connection or performance emphasis.

  • Crew are given watch officer roles of Helm, Pilot, Lookout, and Bosun (sails). Officers are taught their responsibilities.

  • Post sail debrief allows reflection, and goalsetting for on-shore application.

  • Client partnership teams agree shared values. Performance teams are assigned role-specific decisions and communications.

  • Let’s go sailing! Crew work together under the supervision of a skipper on an easy geocaching exercise, or take on a real race.
